April Aguilar is a native New Yorker and Brooklynite. She was encouraged to become a hairdresser by a fellow stylist, her grandmother.

 

She apprenticed with celebrity stylist Ric Pipino (becoming immersed in high end beauty, editorial work, and fashion shows) before becoming a curly hair specialist. She was hand picked and trained by the founder of Devachan Salon, Lorraine Massey. She later joined the staff of Collective Plus salon as their featured curl specialist. She is now once again  alongside her longtime mentor and friend, Jeffrey Ching at JBW Salon.

 

With over 22 years of experience, she has been an Advanced Curl Specialist for the past 19 years, primarily working with textured clients of all curl types. She is now creating hair masterpieces at JBW Salon in Soho. April calls her technique "Magic" because of the immediate visual results dry sculpting and curl painting allows.
